So, I submitted a proposal for my new productions company to film a documentary for Liberty Walk 2008. You can check them out at Libertywalk.org. It looks like a cool project that some of my friends might be interested in being a part of, but anyway, we were gonna film the whole thing for them and be on the road for 30 weeks. I was going to quit my Triton job, and get Independent study credits at NEIU for the project so I could maintain my student status. Anyways, after crunching the numbers and figuring out what they wanted and how much it would be worth it for us to do it, my budget range for them was 190K -230K, and yeah that is in dollars. But it would have been great. I think their project is exciting and worth while for them, but they turned down my proposal on Friday. Which is fine. I just moved into the new apartment, I didn't really want to leave Triton until 2009, and I have Jails...the movie on my plate, plus a new semester starts in 3 weeks. Anyways, I had fun doing the budget proposal, it shows how experienced I am at these things since I knocked out a great proposal in 4 hours. They just didn't have that kind of money. Good luck to them, but I don't see someone taking the project for 30K which is what their budget was, I mean 30 weeks of on the road filming 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, that is going to cost someone way more than 30K. There is no way to do pre-production, production, and post-production for that kind of money unless the people filming already have the money and will make money on the rights. We are not that big yet to take something like that on. Our budget for Jails is 16K and hopefully I can find some producers who want to add to that, but we shall see. Anyways, I had surgery on Thursday, been kind of laid out for a few days. I am offline at my new place until sometime later this week, so I zoomed over to p's house to write this blog and check my emails. Nothing is shaking obviously. Anyway, life is good, mouth is healing, I am feeling good, Nicole makes me smile everyday, David Alexander i.e. the partner and I will be making C.A.I.B. Productions official in September. So Creativity At Its Best Productions LLC will be looking for side jobs while we are in pre-production for Jails this fall....Other than keep your head up, keep the shades off, see the world as is, and you will be fine...
Peace out, and Later on....
